Melemang Dance

Historically, Melemang dance is a traditional dance from the State Tanjungpisau Bentan Penaga, Bintan district. Dance Melemang played the first time around the 12th century.  

Back then, dance Melemang only played in court Bentan Malay kingdom whose center is located at Bukit Batu, Bintan. This dance is only presented to the King when the King is at rest. Because it is a court dance, dance danced by the ladies Melemang Bentan kingdom. But since the kingdom Bentan collapse, dance performances Melemang turned into folk entertainment.
